What is GDevelop?

It's a real game engine — but instead of typing code, your child builds the game out of rules: when something happens, then something else happens. Change the rule below and watch the game change.

You just edited a game. Switch the game type and the same rule still works — that's the point. A finished GDevelop project is a few dozen rules like this one, stacked together — that stack is the programming.

What they'll actually make

Three kinds of game

A side-on platformer, a top-down game seen from above (adventure, shooter, or puzzle), and in the final level, 3D. Three genres instead of one template — so what your child learns transfers, rather than being one recipe repeated six times.

Systems, not just scenes

Inventories, scores, health bars, characters that react to the player. This is where the programming surfaces: variables, loops, and functions — in visual form, but the real concepts.

Something published

The final project exports to a web link. Your child sends you a URL and you play their game on your phone.
