01

Intro to Blender

Students learn the Blender interface, navigation tools, and viewport controls. They practice creating basic objects (cubes, spheres, cylinders), using Move/Scale/Rotate tools, and applying colors. Students understand the workspace layout and essential Blender controls for 3D modeling.

02

Object Mode

Students build a donut model working with multiple objects, transformations, and materials. They apply lighting and textures to create realistic renders. Students learn how to combine objects, organize scenes, and use references to guide their modeling process.

03

Sculpting Mode

Students use sculpting tools (Grab, Flatten, Draw) to add organic details and imperfections to models. They work with references to create realistic surface textures and learn when to use sculpting vs. traditional modeling techniques. Focus is on adding detail and character to 3D models.

04

Animation Mode

Students create simple animations using keyframes: position, scale, and rotation changes over time. They insert, delete, and move keyframes to control animation timing. Students learn the basics of the timeline, playback, and exporting animated renders.

05

Edit Mode

Students work with vertices, edges, and faces to build a character model. They use selection modes, extrude, loop cuts, and merge tools to create precise geometry. Students understand how mesh topology affects model quality and learn to modify models at the vertex level.

06

Model Planning

Students plan a custom 3D model by defining scope, gathering references, and identifying required tools and techniques. They create asset lists, outline modeling steps, and decide which Blender modes to use (Object, Edit, Sculpt). Students practice breaking complex models into manageable tasks.

07

Work Period

Students build their planned custom model with instructor support and feedback. They apply all learned techniques (modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting), test renders, troubleshoot issues, and refine their model based on visual quality. Focus is on creating a complete, polished 3D model.

08

Learning Showcase

Students render final images of their models and present projects to classmates. They demonstrate modeling techniques used, explain their creative process, and discuss challenges overcome. Students learn to export models and renders for portfolio presentation and sharing.

🛠️Builder (3DDES-LV2)

01

Modifiers + Boolean Modeling

Students learn to use modifiers (Boolean, Mirror, Subdivision, Bevel) to create complex shapes efficiently. They practice Boolean operations (Union, Difference, Intersect) to combine objects and create intricate geometry. Students understand non-destructive workflows using modifier stacks.

02

Boolean Practice

Students build models using Boolean modeling workflows, creating complex shapes from simple primitives. They design objects with cutouts, combined forms, and precise intersections. Focus is on understanding when to use Boolean operations vs. manual modeling for efficiency and quality.

03

Subdivision Modeling

Students model a dice using subdivision surface workflow, creating smooth organic shapes from low-poly base geometry. They learn edge loops, supporting edges, and topology flow for clean subdivision. Students understand how subdivision affects model smoothness and rendering.

04

Subdivision Practice

Students create more complex models using subdivision techniques, managing edge flow and topology for smooth results. They practice adding detail while maintaining clean geometry and learn to balance polygon count with visual quality. Focus is on professional subdivision modeling workflows.

05

Python + Random Generation

Students use Python scripting in Blender to generate models procedurally. They learn basic Python syntax for creating objects, applying random transformations, and distributing elements across scenes. Students understand how code can accelerate 3D modeling workflows for repetitive tasks.

06

Random City Project

Students build a small procedural city using Python-generated buildings with random variations. They apply random distribution, scaling, and placement to create diverse cityscapes. Focus is on combining manual modeling with procedural generation for efficient scene creation.

07

Work Period

Students create a custom model using advanced techniques learned (modifiers, Boolean, subdivision, Python generation). They plan implementation, apply multiple workflows, and create polished renders. Focus is on combining techniques strategically for efficient, professional-quality results.

08

Learning Showcase

Students render and present their advanced models, explaining techniques and workflows used. They walk through modifier stacks, Boolean operations, and Python scripts created. Students practice communicating technical 3D modeling decisions clearly and receive feedback on both artistic and technical execution.

🏆Creator (3DDES-LV3)

01

Project Brainstorming

Students design a custom 3D model from scratch, proposing an original concept with clear artistic goals and technical requirements. They create a comprehensive project plan identifying required tools, modeling techniques, and rendering approaches. Students justify design choices, explain their artistic vision, and define constraints (scope, time, technical complexity).

02

Work Period 1

Students begin building their custom model, establishing base geometry and foundational structure. They break modeling steps into specific tasks, prioritize implementation order, and create the basic model framework. Focus is on building strong foundations: clean topology, efficient geometry, and tested base forms before adding complexity.

03

Work Period 2

Students expand their model with additional detail and begin integrating techniques (modifiers, sculpting, texturing). They test material interactions, refine geometry, and adjust model balance. Students apply prior workflows: iterative development, systematic testing, and making incremental improvements rather than adding everything at once.

04

Work Period 3

Students add advanced details and polish to their models: complex materials, lighting setups, fine sculpting details, and animation if applicable. They focus on completing features over adding more features, ensuring each implemented element works properly and enhances visual quality. Students practice time management and feature prioritization.

05

Work Period 4

Students perform comprehensive visual review and quality assurance. They identify geometry issues, optimize topology, improve materials and lighting, and refine based on test renders. Students adjust composition, enhance visual consistency, and prepare their model for final presentation and rendering.

06

Work Period 5

Students complete final implementation tasks, addressing remaining issues and adding final polish. They optimize render settings for quality, improve visual presentation, ensure all elements work correctly, and prepare showcase materials. Students create multiple render angles, lighting variations, and presentation notes explaining their work.

07

Peer Review

Students share projects with classmates and receive structured feedback. They review each other's models, provide constructive criticism on artistic and technical execution, and suggest improvements. Students practice giving and receiving professional feedback, learning to evaluate 3D work from both artistic and technical perspectives.

08

Learning Showcase

Students present their final models to classmates, instructors, and invited guests. They reflect on their creation process: techniques implemented, modeling solutions created, progress over time, challenges overcome, and lessons learned. Students demonstrate mastery of Blender, 3D modeling principles, artistic vision, and project management skills.

Common Parent Questions

Q1

Does my child need 3D modeling or art experience?

No prior experience required for Level 1. Students start with Blender basics before progressing to advanced techniques. Interest in art, design, or creativity is helpful but not required.

Q2

Is Blender really used professionally?

Yes. Blender is industry-standard software used by studios like Pixar, Ubisoft, NASA, and countless freelance professionals for films, games, architecture, and product design.

Q3

Will this help my child with other creative software?

Yes. 3D modeling concepts (topology, materials, lighting, rendering) transfer to other 3D software like Maya, Cinema 4D, and 3ds Max. Students also gain general design thinking skills.

Q4

Can students skip to Level 2 or 3?

Each level builds on previous skills. We recommend starting at Level 1 unless your child has completed similar Blender courses and can demonstrate proficiency with basic modeling techniques.

Q5

How do I see my child's progress?

Students export rendered images and 3D models you can view directly. You'll receive image files of their renders and can watch them present projects during showcase sessions.
